The trip

Four days in Valencia for its greatest festival: giant satirical monuments, the 2pm mascletà, the flower offering, the Night of Fire and the final burning. Plus a sunset paella out in the Albufera rice fields, and the dishes Valencia gave the world. No driving: we walk, take the Metro, and use a private minibus only where it helps.

Base camp

Where we stay.

Without bikes we stay central and walk everywhere. Two options on every trip, both booked through Fora at cost:

Option 1 · Hostel (best value): a central hostel in the Ciutat Vella or Ruzafa with private group rooms of 4–8. Book the whole room so the group stays together.

Option 2 · Hotel, twin rooms shared by 2: a central hotel in the Ciutat Vella, Ruzafa or near Colón. Walking distance to everything.

Airport: Valencia (VLC). Metro lines 3 and 5 reach the centre in about 25 minutes, or book a private minibus. For 8–16 people, a private 16-seat minibus from the airport is usually cheaper per head than taxis and keeps the group together.
